Crewe club loses SEV licence at renewal

The Manhattan club in Crewe has lost its SEV licence at renewal. There were no representations against the club from the public but a representation from the licensing police officer highlighted instances where the police had been called to the club as well as apparent non-compliance with licensing conditions. According to a letter sent to the licensee following a visit to check apparently defective CCTV, the police suggested that the premise was non-compliant because it did not ‘maintain separate entrances for customers and performers to use… maintain a satisfactory register of performers with the level of detail required…check on the age of performers to ensure they are over 18…maintain a register of SIA staff working at your premises…[or] have a nominated female chaperone oversees female performers’. It appears this evidence had a persuasive effect on the licensing committee, albeit the club continues to be licensed under the Premises Act 2003 for the sale of alcohol.
